Having an abdominal massage with an essential oil can be hugely beneficial in relieving constipation as it can help to facilitate the peristaltic activity of the colon – however some people may feel more comfortable using essential oils at home. Here are some suggestions for self abdominal massage
IBS – Sweet Marjoram (Origanum marjorana)
Constipation – Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
Spasms and cramps – (Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)
Flatulence – Sweet Orange (Citrus sinesis)
Abdominal Self Massage:
Put 10 drops of the essential oil as stated above into 2omls of sweet almond oil and massage clockwise into the abdomen. If you have a nut allergy then use grapeseed oil instead of sweet almond oil
Hot Compress
Add 1-4 drops of essential oil to a bowl of hot water and lay a thick paper towel over the surface of the water and remove immediately shaking off any excess water. Apply to affected area for 5-mins until cooled and reapply
