When you do not get enough good quality sleep you will end up feeling anxious, irritable, find it hard to concentrate and will be just generally exhausted. this can be extremely frustrating and may be holding you back from getting on with your life and doing the things which you love.
Insomnia and sleep disturbance is not surprisingly a very common condition affecting as many as 1 in 3 people in the UK. We all experience times in our lifes when it is difficult to sleep but when it becomes persistent it can have a significant impact upon your physical and mental health.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for insomnia is recommended by the NHS as a first line treatment for insomnia and research has shown that it may be more effective than taking sleeping tablets (Walker M 2018)
I work with clients in developing goals and strategies to develop good sleep hygiene which includes
- Developing healthy sleep habits
- Relaxation skills based training to enable your body and mind to be ready to sleep
- Dealing with negative thinking and ruminations which may be keeping you awake
- Enable you to feel confident again in your ability to sleep.
