Pregnancy is an incredible process bringing both joy and stress. Your body will go through incredible physical changes to meet the needs of your growing baby. Massage can help to ease aches and pains whilst helping you to connect and become in tune with your baby. My massage treatments combine traditional techniques with the addition of essential oils which will enable you to benefit from the therapeutic effects of the oils whilst relaxing with a deeply nurturing massage. I follow strict safety guidelines in relation to the appropriate use of essential oils in pregnancy.

What Happens During Pregnancy Massage?

A full consultation will be taken at your first appointment which will take into consideration your physical, emotional and general health needs. I will be able to work with you to decide what type of massage would be most helpful and which essential oils would be most therapeutic at your stage of pregnancy.

You will lie on a comfortable couch normally on your side  supported by lots of pillows, to enable you to feel really supported and nurtured.

First Trimester

The first trimester can be an a wonderful exhilarating time but it can also bring some stress and anxiety. During this stage the body is going through lots of hormonal changes which may make you feel emotional, tired and nauseous. Gentle massage can help to calm and ease the body whilst relieving tension and aches in muscles, providing emotional support, promoting sleep, relieving headaches, reducing anxiety.

Second Trimester

Massage during the second trimester of pregnancy can help to relieve muscular aches and pains, reduce and manage oedema, promote sleep whilst reducing any stress and anxiety. Massage can also help to facilitate a connection and a bonding between you and your baby.

Third Trimester

During the third trimester of pregnancy you will start to look forwards to the birth of your baby, it is a time of great excitement but also natural anxiety and apprehension. Massage may help you to prepare emotionally and physically and it can also help to ease any muscular aches and pains whilst also helping you to connect with your baby.

Labour Massage 

During this time you may want to book a massage session for you and your birth partner which will enable your partner to learn a massage routine to be used during labour. Time will be given to talk through your birth plan and to choose an appropriate essential oil blend.


Postnatal Aromatherapy Massage

Postnatal aromatherapy massage can help with general recovery from childbirth and with general well being after the birth of your baby. bespoke blends of essential oils can be prescribed to help heal the body postpartum.
