Reflexology For Women’s Health

Reflexology can aid women throughout all periods of change in their life, from the onset of menstruation and puberty, through to fertility, pregnancy, peri menopause and the menopause. Each of these stages is a unique and powerful experience for a woman resulting in many physical and psychological changes.

Reflexology for Women’s Health initial treatments include a health, diet and lifestyle consultation which will allow me to design a personalised treatment plan which may include a blend of Reflexology, Meditation, Hypnotherapy or Reiki.  We will discuss any concerns you may be experiencing and any symptoms that you may be having as a result.  Whatever stage of your life the sessions can help bring your body into balance.   At the end of the treatment I will offer home care advice to prolong the effects of the treatment as necessary and we will discuss a treatment plan going forwards.

Reflexology can help alleviate symptoms of:

  • Puberty in helping to balance the hormones and  improve mood
  • Pre menstrual Syndrome – Reflexology can help balance the hormones, alleviating pain, anxiety, fatigue etc.
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful periods) Reflexology is a great way to help reduce the pain caused by dysmenorrhea.
  • Amenorrhea (temporary or permanent absence of periods)  There are many reasons why your period may stop such as extreme exercise, extreme weight loss or anorexia, stress, stopping the contraceptive pill, pregnancy, menopause, certain medications, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS),Thyroid malfunction – e.g. hypothyridism (underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).Regular reflexology sessions can help to kick start your periods, as long as other lifestyle factors are not prohibitive.

Stress can have a very negative effect on the body, disturbing our healthy mental and physical well-being, compromising our immune system and therefore leaving us more susceptible to illness. By using either foot or hand Reflexology, on a regular basis you can help relieve Stress by encouraging a state of deep relaxation whereby the organs, glands, nerves and overall body systems are balanced. Through the relaxation process, the body is more capable of dealing with the stresses placed upon it.

Is Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle but effective therapy which is non-invasive and holistic.  I specialise in working particularly with women going through transitional times in their lives  such as  Fertility, Pregnancy, Miscarriage, Menopause and all things hormonal. I also have a special interest in supporting women and men experiencing Stress and Anxiety.

Reflexology is a gentle but effective complementary therapy that involves a pressure technique on the reflex areas found in the feet, hands and face. Reflexology allows the body to go into a deeply relaxed state, giving the person a sense of well being. It is based on the principle that different points in the feet and hands correspond to different parts of the body.

Reflexology is a very individual treatment that works holistically. The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its natural balance. Most people find that after a treatment their tension is reduce and that they feel  relaxed. They also notice that they sleep better and that their mood and sense of well being has improved.

Reflexology has many benefits including:

  • Reducing stress
  • Boosting circulation
  • Improving nerve and blood supply
  • Relieving anxiety and depression
  • Alleviating insomnia
  • Reducing pain
  • Reflexology is a gentle supportive treatment which provides a deep sense of relaxation and calm during your fertility journey. I will tailor a course of treatments depending on whether your own cycles are regular with follow-up treatments at particular times of the month to stimulate ovulation.
  • Reflexology has been found to be very effective in helping both the physical and emotional symptoms of the menopause without the side effects associated with drug based treatments. It truly is a wonderful therapy to help women in their journey through the menopause.
  • Reflexology may be helpful improving hormonal imbalances:

 When to have Reflexology

For general health and wellbeing a monthly treatment is advised. However when wanting to address particular issues more frequent treatment will be optimal – we can discuss this during your Initial Consultation.
